The iPhone SE is Apple's most cheap new iPhone, starting at $399. It's an appealing choice for individuals who enjoy Apple's ecosystem but don't want to spend $800 or more every few years on a new phone.
If you
don't need a new iPhone right soon, you might choose to wait for the
third-generation iPhone SE, which is expected in a few months.
Pricing and specifications for the iPhone SE
The iPhone
SE isn't usually upgraded once a year. The first iPhone SE was introduced in
2016, and the second-generation device won't be available until April 2020.
(though it did get a slight storage bump in 2017 with bigger storage
capacities). It's essentially an iPhone 8 body with the A13 Bionic CPU featured
in the iPhone 11 (with
Touch ID, LCD, and single back camera).
That's how
the iPhone SE generally works: Apple takes an older phone and replaces the
processor with the most recent Apple chip. This makes it far more
cost-effective to create, making it Apple's most cost-effective iPhone. There
are just two storage options: 64GB at $399 and 128GB for $449, both of which
are rarely discounted.
The iPhone
SE has always been introduced in the spring, and a new generation is expected
in 2022.
Why should you buy an iPhone SE?
Although
the iPhone SE did not receive an upgrade in 2021, it remains a capable new iPhone
for the price. It's the most cost-effective new iPhone available, and it
supports the majority of significant new technology. You'll just be missing out
on a few nice-to-have features like Face ID and MagSafe.
The $399 price tag on the iPhone SE
The iPhone
SE is the cheapest new iPhone available at £399, so if you're only looking for
a low-cost option, this is the way to go. Even the cheapest iPhone 13 Mini
starts at £699, a substantial price hike over the SE.
The iPhone 11 is the next most affordable iPhone. Although it was introduced in 2019, a fresh one is still available on the Apple store. It features the outdated A13 Bionic chipset, 64GB of storage, and wireless charging, but it does have a fantastic dual back camera.
Why should you wait for the iPhone SE?
If you're
not in a rush, the next iPhone SE (coming out in the spring of 2022, we
believe) will be far superior. We've heard a lot of different things—some claim
it'll keep the iPhone 8 body and Touch ID, while others believe it'll switch to
the iPhone XR body with Face ID. In any case, if the trend continues, the A15
chip, which will Apple debuted with the iPhone 13 this autumn, should be
included.
That means
it'll run significantly quicker, have a longer battery life, and produce better
photos and videos. Perhaps most crucially, it will support 5G, which isn't as
vital right now as it will be in the future. This will undoubtedly be Apple's
most cost-effective 5G iPhone.

We advise you to: WAIT
The chances are considerable that a new iPhone SE will be released in March or April. That's not a long time to wait for Apple's most cheap iPhone to get a big improvement, such as 5G, a faster CPU, and greater camera quality.
